Collectius is a trusted restructuring partner to banks and financial institutions in Asia, with operations in Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Its business is to purchase portfolios of non-performing consumer loans and recover them by helping its customers become debt-free. Collectius manages a $2.5 billion debt portfolio and has over 3 million customers in five countries. The company employs more than 300 colleagues and collaborates with prestigious partners like the Bank of China, HSBC, and several other large financial institutions. We helped Collectius by providing them with strategic design consultancy, UX copywriting, key company messages, a facelifted brand identity, a custom illustration library, and a comprehensive UI kit.

Brand transformation challenge: from corporate identity to a modern fintech outlook

Collectius was previously characterized by a strict-looking corporate identity that was created in a way that appealed to investors. The company’s landing page resembled a banking website and was not at all straight-to-the-point, nor fintech-like. Our client was aiming at a more customer-friendly approach, so we provided our partner with strategic design consultancy, and along with developing the appropriate UX copies and reshaping the key company messages, we also facelifted the brand identity and recreated the existing wireframes in order to captivate the target audience.

Crafting unique visuals: elevating collectius with engaging brand elements

When creating a visual identity, we always aspire to create something truly special and unique for our clients that also feels different for their users. Our goal is to engage end-users and provide them with visual pleasure while ensuring usability and a seamless experience. We created custom illustrations for Collectius’ branding and screens, which eventually resulted in a specific mood when using their solution. We built a digital-first branding that amazes customers on desktop and mobile platforms, too! Identifying the most important aspects of the project was the cornerstone of our work.

Modular design system approach for easier scalability

As Collectius is a debt management company, the product might seem a bit dry. It was indeed a challenge to form a customer-centric, easy-to-understand, and clear platform from the dreary, empty wireframes. As for our unique custom illustrations, the supporting design system is built modularly, so it is easy and convenient to reuse the visuals later on. The differently colored setups can also be beneficial when designing company presentations. Our modular approach provides easy scalability - custom vector illustrations and icons are simple but distinct, easy to update, reuse, or even animate. In conclusion, the redesigned Collectius brand doesn’t just claim to be customer-friendly, personalized, and easy to use; it now actually is. It was a great experience to work with such an established client and help them better engage their users through comprehensive strategic design.
